May 26th, 2009 Storms
Zack Biggs, Colin Miller and myself chase storms in North Central Texas.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We weren't really expecting to chase today. An earlier storm cluster left several outflow boundaries in the area, and these ended up being the focus for storms in the evening. A powerful cell near Fort Worth split, with one cell heading due north and the other heading South East. We had a hard time deciding on which storm to chase, and ended up heading South with a target of White Rock Lake to observe the storms. We probably should have targetted the northern cell, as it ended up pointing on a fantastic lightning show up near my home in Allen. We had a beautiful viewing area on the lake, and got a few pictures and some nice video. After our southern storm died off, we decided to head up towards Denton where more cells were firing. We finally ended up near Pilot Point shooting a beautiful storm to our North.
